For those suffering with chronic back or leg pain, there is a new option to consider… Neuromodulation. Spinal Cord Stimulators (SCS) manage chronic pain without any sensation. It won’t cause any unexpected shock when bending, twisting or engaging in daily activities. This device can remain ON while driving or sleeping. The implant procedure is fairly quick, safe, minimally invasive, and will not require hospitalization.
SCS can be used in conjunction with current medications and provides the opportunity to trial the system prior to receiving a permanent implant. SCS’s are MRI safe and do not need recharging. If necessary, the system can be easily removed. We can use all current brands including Nevro®, Boston ScientificTM and St. Jude®.

Spinal Cord Stimulation involves a pacemaker-type device that is implanted in the body. The body delivers low-level electrical signals to the spinal cord or to specific nerves, which helps block pain signals from reaching the brain. The patient can adjust the on/off button and adjust the intensity of the electrical signals. Spinal cord stimulation therapy is often used when other treatments have failed, as with failed back surgery. It is also used in other types of refractory pain.
