Ramos Relief Efforts During COVID-19

Ramos Center is committed to our communities and forever grateful for all front-line workers and businesses who are working together to ‘Do Good’ in these hard times.

Over the past twenty years, Dr. Fabian Ramos and the Ramos Center for Interventional & Functional Pain Medicine have always done their part to give back to local charitable organizations. As residents of the counties we serve, we place a special emphasis on giving to charities that deliver help to people in our own community. Annually, we host a food drive that supports the Food Bank of Manatee and throughout the year, Dr. Ramos provides no cost healthcare to indigent patients through We Care Manatee.

After the COVID-19 stay at home orders went into place and cases of the Coronavirus started to pop up in our own neighborhoods, we knew we wanted to do something to help with both the healthcare and economic crisis. We decided to honor two of the hardest hit sectors… our local hospitals, and our local restaurants. Over the course of one month, we supported local restaurants by ordering food and beverages to well over 400 healthcare heroes at six hospitals in Manatee and Sarasota Counties.

Our efforts began on April 8th at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, one of the hardest hit hospitals in our area, treating infected COVID-19 patients. We partnered with a local franchise of Cracker Barrel to deliver 50 hot lunches to the Emergency Room Department. A few weeks later, we focused our efforts on Manatee County and treated the entire staff at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center to frosty milk shakes from Ellenton based restaurant, Shake Station. Over the next few weeks, we followed the same formula serving, nurses, doctors, janitors, and administration at Manatee Memorial Hospital, Blake Medical Center, Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, and Doctors Hospital ER of Lakewood Ranch.

Our small acts of service helped to brighten the day of the healthcare heroes who continued to work long shifts dealing with the unknowns of the virus, putting themselves at risk. While other restaurants were laying employees off, Shake Station of Ellenton was able to hire new staff to help keep up with the demand of their delivered shakes.

As our state slowly begins to open back up, our charitable efforts have continued. Dr. Fabian Ramos has secured hundreds of N95 medical masks that we are actively donating to medical providers within our community. Over the past few months, our country has been plagued by PPE shortages. Ramos Center’s donations will help medical personnel protect themselves, as well as their patients while they continue to provide the best medical care.

In these unprecedented times, it is important to remember that we are #InThisTogether.
