Ramos Center Aims to Keep Sarasota and Manatee Drug Free
Recently there was a video that went viral on social media, showing two women working as gas station attendants who are clearly incapacitated by opioid use. The women are shown to be spacy and going in and out of consciousness while trying to perform their job. This sad depiction is the shocking reality America is facing today and the problem is only getting worse.
Honest citizens who trying to make a living and to survive, have been hooked onto dangerous opiates, often prescribed by their own doctor. America is in the middle of an opioid epidemic that our medical system has created itself.
At Ramos Center we strive to find alternative solutions for our patients before turning to prescription painkillers. We practice responsible prescribing and we will never leave our patients to fight opioid addiction alone. Here are some examples of alternative treatments available at Ramos Center that will not only alleviate your pain, but also provide long lasting effects that will benefit your health.
Functional Pain Medicine
Functional medicine focuses on the underlying causes of pain and weight gain. Functional medicine differs from integrative medicine in the sense that, it is not a medicine based treatment. Our practitioners look at the cause and then begin planning a customized treatment.
Physical therapy can help patients rehabilitate and get back to their daily lives after an accident or surgery. Patients will work one-on-one with one of our physical therapists who will slowly help them improve movement and focus on pain relieving techniques when the injured area become sore or tense.
Targeted Drug Delivery
If the patient will need drug therapy, Ramos Center offers targeted drug delivery. Targeted drug delivery comes in the form of a subdermal pump that distributes medication directly into the area of spinal cord that is affected by pain. This technique will lower the dosage of pain medication and it will be more effective in fighting pain without inducing the rest of the body.
Ramos Center believes that community involvement is they only way we can combat this epidemic. We have joined causes with Drug Free Sarasota and Drug Free Manatee and we are committed to prescribing proper medication and encouraging a drug free environment.
