Pain Management During Pregnancy

The months of pregnancy are beautiful and life changing! For many moms-to-be, this period of time can be exciting and nerve wracking. Preparing for a newborn baby, whether it is your first or sixth, can be overwhelming and it is important for you to remember that in order to have a happy healthy baby, you need to be focused on being a happy healthy mother!

During the nine months of pregnancy, you can experience intense changes in both physical and mental health. Even though we all imagine pregnancy to be filled with sunshine and rainbows, it is important to know that it can also be very challenging and trigger negative side effects. While you grow your baby, the body releases hormones that can make you feel:

  • Hungry
  • Sleepy
  • Depressed
  • Anxious
  • Nauseous

It is also important to keep in mind that these side effects are normal and can be treated.

For moms with pre-existing conditions like, musculoskeletal, rheumatologic, neuropathic, and pelvic abdominal pain syndrome, pregnancy can lead to the worsening of symptoms.

Whether your pregnancy pains are caused by a pre-existing condition, or a new occurrence, it is important to seek medical attention for pain management before the symptoms continue to worsen. At Ramos Center, we are committed to helping you relieve pain so you can continue your pregnancy in good health and peace of mind. We offer alternative treatments that don’t involve the use of prescription medication so it will be safe for you and the baby.

Hypnotherapy

Clinical Hypnotherapy targets your inner emotions, whether it’s how you relate to yourself, or how you feel others relate to you. Hypnotherapy is conducted by a licensed psychologist who is there to help you relax, meditate on the issues you are having, and offer calm solutions that can help you change your daily habits for the better. This treatment can be extremely useful for moms who suffer from anxiety and depression.

Nutrition

Although putting yourself on a “diet” is not advised during pregnancy, eating well for yourself and your baby certainly is! Pregnancy can strip your body of many needed nutrients and if these nutrients are not being replaced by nutrient rich foods, you will begin to experience negative symptoms or worsening symptoms of your condition. By fueling your body with healthy food, you will give you and your baby the best chances of health and success.

We have a great nutritional team available to help you navigate, what and when you should be eating, to keep you both healthy. We understand there is a lot on your plate when preparing for your bundle of joy, and we want to help so you can make wise and healthy food choices!

Exercise

Weight gain in pregnancy can also lead to adverse side effects, however, keeping active will help you long term in your pregnancy and ultimately during the birthing process. Again, this is not about promoting weight loss in pregnancy, but rather to promote a healthy lifestyle to continue after your baby arrives. We have an experienced trainer who will be there to help you learn what exercises are suitable during pregnancy, and how they will help you maintain your health and fitness.

At Ramos Center, we want all of our patients to walk away feeling cared for both mentally and physically. It is important to inform and discuss lifestyle changes with your obstetrics (OB) healthcare provider before making any drastic life changes. If you are ready to start this new chapter in prenatal health, give us a call today or walk in to make an appointment with our professionals.
