Dr. Samuel A. Amen

Samuel Alan Amen, MD, DABAM, FASAM completed his undergraduate studies at Kalamazoo College in Michigan, where he played a couple of years of intercollegiate football and completed Officers Candidate School with the US Marine Corps in Quantico VA. After serving on medical missions in the Ecuadorian jungle and Galapagos Islands, he found his calling and entered pre-medical studies at Arizona State University.

Dr. Amen went on to complete his medical studies at the University of Oklahoma, where he completed a one-year internship in Internal Medicine. He had completed a one-year Residency in Anesthesia at the University of Southern California when family circumstances called him back to Michigan. He began practicing men’s health and became licensed in nine states, providing medical services at various clinics across the country. Dr. Amen then chose to return to the University of Oklahoma to complete his Residency in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Amen went on to Fellowship training in Pain Management and Addiction Medicine. Upon completion of his Fellowship, he joined the faculty at the University of Oklahoma Tulsa School of Community Medicine. Dr. Amen found a great deal of personal and professional satisfaction in treating patients with chronic pain and opioid addiction. He helped to establish a successful private practice in Pain Management and Addiction Medicine in Tulsa, Oklahoma before relocating his Wife and their two children to Sarasota, FL.

Dr. Amen is excited about joining the Ramos Center for Interventional & Functional Pain Medicine and bringing his unique and much needed skill set to serve the patients within our community.
