Dr. Ramos Receives Community Health Advocacy Award

Congratulations Dr. Fabian A. Ramos!

The Ramos Center for Interventional and Functional Pain Medicine’s founder, Dr. Fabian A. Ramos, received the 2018 Community Health Advocacy Award from Sarasota Medical Alliance Foundation and Society.

Presented by Erin Lilly, President of the Sarasota Medical Alliance Foundation & Society, Dr. Ramos received the award on June 8, 2018, and couldn’t have gone to a more deserving candidate.

“We are so pleased and proud to have Dr. Ramos connected with this award-winning health project,” said Lilly. “His work on behalf of patients throughout our region and the nation exemplifies our mission to take a grassroots approach to combating the opioid epidemic in our community and to destigmatize mental health issues.”

Every year, the Sarasota Medical Alliance Foundation and Society picks a select few individuals or organizations whose outstanding efforts in health-related initiatives and volunteer organizations that better the Sarasota County community, stand out.

Excitedly, Dr. Ramos was chosen this year for his contribution to the Drug-Free Sarasota Physician Advocate Award Program. This program addresses how Sarasota’s doctors are helping Drug-Free Sarasota share the latest info on the opioid epidemic that is rocking the state of Florida.

“I am honored to receive this award on behalf of our doctors and staff who dedicate time to love our patients and help them in the best possible and responsible way,” said Dr. Ramos. “It is my distinct privilege to work alongside this organization and with people throughout the community who devote time to making change.

The Ramos Center is known to focus their efforts regarding the opioid crisis by trying to maintain a sophisticated and comprehensive set of programs through screening, monitoring, behavioral and physical therapies, and primary and high-level interventional treatments to control pain where it starts, as opposed to prescribing opioids as its first plan of action.
