Something isn’t right when your pain becomes a focal point of our day-to-day existence, distracting us from the things that make us happy. At the Ramos Center for Interventional and Functional Pain Medicine, we want to make sure pain takes the backseat in your life so that you can focus on who you love and what you love to do.

What kind of treatments do you offer for chronic pain?

Since chronic pain is complex, the treatments needed to manage and relieve chronic pain are diverse. We follow a multi-modality approach at the Ramos Center for Interventional and Functional Pain Medicine. By multi-modality, we mean that our treatments are multi-faceted and focus on cognitive and behavioral rehabilitation, in addition to physical pain management treatments! In doing so, we intend to relieve pain and restore functionality without surgical procedures or an unhealthy reliance on medication. With that in mind, we offer several useful and innovative programs and treatments here, including:

  • Physical Therapy
  • Radiofrequency ablation
  • Various injections (Transforaminal, selective root, epidural, facet joint, trigger point, platelet-rich plasma, etc.)
  • Metastatic Spinal Tumor Ablation (STAR™)
  • Spinal cord stimulators
  • Hypnotherapy
  • Stem Cell Therapy
  • Kyphoplasty and Sacroplasty

That is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to our services! We have a wide variety of treatment options for all sorts of chronic pain conditions. Call us at one of our three different locations if you would like more information the conditions we treat and the services we provide!

What can you do for degenerative disc disease?

Degenerative disc disease naturally occurs with age, as the disc-like shock absorbers in our spine that enable its flexibility to break down from wear and tear. Thus, even though it is called a disease, it is not a clinical disease but rather a by-product of aging. This condition can be excruciating, and it also significantly hinders your ability to bend with your back. At the Ramos Center for Interventional and Functional Pain Medicine, we have several treatment options available to us to effectively treat this debilitating condition, including physical therapy, radiofrequency ablation, spinal cord stimulation, and stem cell therapy! We also use various injections to improve this condition, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and lumbar epidural steroid injections. When you meet with one of our doctors for your appointment, they will discuss with you the treatment options and which will work best for you, given your medical history and the affected part of your spine.

I need medication, but I don’t want to become addicted. How can you help?

At the Ramos Center for Interventional and Functional Pain Medicine, we take this concern very seriously! We engineer our programs to proactively help in such a way that precludes the necessity of relying on an unreasonable amount of addictive pain medication like opiates. We try to avoid taking that route in your treatment as much as possible. We have a holistic perspective when it comes to pain management and your body, focusing not only on your pain but also on your psycho-social needs. To do so, we prescribe buprenorphine, which is a medication used to treat pain and opioid dependence, alongside counseling and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). We also offer hypnotherapy to help with addiction, trauma, pain control, and other psycho-social aspects that play a role in chronic pain. As such, our pain management center prevents opioid dependence and helps those who have been victimized by negligent pain management methods in this way.
